Located close to the Alberta Border. Dawson Creek is Mile 0 on the Alaska Highway which was constructed by the US military over a very short time during World War 2.
A rich farming area and also has the forestry industry influence and a large number of American tourists crossing off their bucket list of visiting Alaska. In 2009 a wind park was built on Bear Mountain SW of the City.

Bear Mountain Wind Park (BMW) – Bear Mountain Wind Park (BMW). The 34 turbines were manufactured in Germany. Among the largest in the world today, each 3 million watt turbine produces enough energy to power 1000 homes.
